Turning intention into action in local investing

In 2025 I co-authored Place-Based Impact Investing: Ambition to Action for the Impact Investing Institute, where I am a Senior Associate.

Ambition to Action is a practical guide for place leaders and investors who want to work together on local investment. The guide draws on input from stakeholders across the impact investing ecosystem, including pension funds, institutional investors and combined authorities.

The guide sets out a three-phase roadmap (prepare, connect, act), with checklists and tools for each stage, from building capacity and networks to developing investable strategies. It places this in the context of devolution and pension reform, with case studies from Bristol, Greater Manchester and Southampton.

Alongside the guide, I curated the Institute’s flagship Place Coalition gatherings in Bristol (November 2025) and Sheffield (March 2026 - pictured below).

From roadmap to pipeline

Mobilise, with the Impact Investing Institute

Mobilise takes places through the same journey as the guide: a workshop and readiness diagnostic, a prioritised pipeline of impact capital opportunities, then testing them with suitable investors and technical experts.
